Examining Gener, Race and Body Image in a Virtual World

I started exploring Secondlife's virtual worlds with a  white blond haired male in a suite and tie to give the image of a business man. I explored two worlds with this avatar in Penn State Isle and also London City. I received similar interactions with other users in both worlds. Some were new to the application and were asking for help. Others were asking additional information about me. I made sure to keep my answers to a minimum dealing with personal information…

I chose to be a robot and explore Bay city. No one was interested in talking to me and I flew around and exploited the world. More people seem interested when I was an actaul human.

Lastly, I went into London city as a lion. The same scenario was going on as before with the robot. I was getting ignored. Some may think I am a younger user due to my character.

Final, Adding 5 PDF Files

I added 5 PDF files onto one object. I chose to upload 5 different Boston College PDF files. They consist of campus maps, rosters, handbooks.

Final, Testing Classmates Libraries

I choose to visit Sam's Library. It was very creative and well organized. I enjoyed the videos that were playing in the back as you were walking around the world

I then visited Jamie's Library. Jamie's was also well organized and easy to follow and understand. I enjoyed the video posted on the wall.

Lastly, I looked at Diana's library. My computer had a lot of trouble loading and following Diana's world and was force quitting me out every time so I was unable to get more than one picture and look at the whole world. From what I saw the world was perfect!

Final #4, High Resolution Avatar

Here is my original avatar and I am adjusting my height, age, body shape, race, etc.

I chose to give my avatar some clothes and put on jeans, button shirt, jacket, and brown shoes

I then gave my avatar some hair, eyebrows, eye lashes, etc. I tired to match up exactly how I view my features.

I wanted to bulk up my avatar so I gave him bigger arms, legs, torso, chest, etc. I did not do much because I want him to look like myself. The picture below shows me adjusting my torso.

Final #5b, Greenfoot Lettuce and Snake

These are the steps are used to get the lettuce and also the snake onto my game board.

Here is my first game with the turtle eating the lettuce.

I copy and pasted the whole coding for my turtle eating the lettuce and switched it with "turtle" where "lettuce" was stated. This allows the snake to go after and eat the turtle.

Here is what my game looked like while running.
